Dr Philippa Pettingill

Dr Philippa Pettingill is a postdoctoral scientist at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University of Oxford. Her research interests focus on understanding the pathogenic mechanism of migraine using induced human pluripotent stem cells derived from migraineurs.

Philippa is interested in innovation and during her DPhil studies in Oxford, she discovered the GABAA receptor as a novel antigenic target in autoimmune encephalitis. She patented her idea and has established an in vitro assay which is being used diagnostically to speed-up the recognition and treatment of these patients in clinics across the UK.
