Description

As scientists, researchers, healthcare professionals, and entrepreneurs you have many ‘balls to juggle’ - including staying ahead of technological developments, adapting to evolving customer and societal needs, shaping intelligent alliances, and attracting appropriate investors to propel your growth.  And this is only part of the picture…

This is where strategy comes into play.

“Good ideas need good strategy to realize their potential” Reid Hoffman, Founder, LinkedIn

Strategy is a daunting concept; demystifying it with a set of tools is effective whatever the challenge or the career path. In the commercial world, finding the perfect strategic fit a product or technology is complicated, especially in today’s fast-paced world.

Innovation Forum Oxford (IFO) partnered with INSTA Associates Ltd to help you tackle these challenges in two ways:

  1. Strategy Workshop

This one-day workshop is intended for scientists, researchers, healthcare professionals and early stage science ventures. It is structured around three sessions where participants will (1) acquire and apply key strategy tools for developing a business and navigating through an entrepreneurial journey; (2) become aware of the common risks, pitfalls, and mitigation approaches for start-ups; (3) better understand the expectations and language of investors and buyers.

On the day:

09:00-09:30: Registration

09:30-10:00: Welcome from Innovation Forum Oxford

10:00-11:30: SESSION I: Strategy concepts and tools

11:30-12:00: Break and Networking

12:00-13:30: SESSION II: case study

13:30-14:00: Lunch and discussion

14:00-15:00: SESSION III: questions, reflections, sharing experiences

  1. Access to INSTA-Insights, a co-creation effort for your strategy acceleration platform

INSTA Associates has set out to build the dedicated online platform INSTA-Insights, to provide free strategy acceleration services to researchers and early stage science ventures. We would love to engage you in the co-creation of INSTA-Insights: The more we can learn from you about your needs and approach to building your venture, the better platform we can give you. For this reason, we invite you to take part in an online survey which will be followed by two focus groups.

The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and your responses will remain anonymous. It would be great if you could fill-in the survey until 12 June 2019:

More on IFO collaboration with INSTA Associates:

Aligned with IFO’s mission, INSTA Associates support researchers exploring the commercialisation path of science-based ideas as well as entrepreneurs tackling the challenges of early stage ventures. These ideas and ventures have the potential to solve some of the world’s biggest problems but carry, like all start-ups, a high risk of failure. Engaging in the two activities offered by INSTA Associates, science entrepreneurs will not only de-risk their own venture but also integrate effectively into the wider entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.

The workshop and the co-creation of INSTA-Insightswill be led by Michele Scatagliniand Nigel Greenhill, partners of INSTA Associates and alumni of the Saïd Business School. The activities are inspired by their experience on the Strategy and Innovation post graduate diploma at the Saïd Business School and work with Prof. MJ Ventresca, and built upon their learnings over the past 20 years, consolidated into an advisory toolkit used to advise corporates and entrepreneurs.
